11 - Flowers General Info

Tulips are planted in an "egg carton" pattern very close to one another to use little space and facilitate easy harvesting.

Bulbs are composted once flowers bloom and are treated as an annual, requiring new bulbs to be planted each season.

Peonies are planted as tubers and require more space per plant - up to 2 feet is recommended. It takes approx 3 years for a peony plant to produce an appreciable amount of blooms. In full maturity, peony plants can yield 30-40 blooms per plant!

And a key advantage of peonies is that they are a hearty perennial giving flowers for decades, possibly up to 100 years. They can be divided and replanted!
