10 - Livestock Guardian Dog

Squeaky is our Livestock Guardian Dog - She is a Maremma – a breed from Italy that has been bred to protect livestock.

In this area coyotes are a concern for our sheep especially when the lambs are small. But the biggest predators of sheep are domesticated dogs.

In early April, 2 additional Maremmas joined the farm, Mabel (8 month old puppy) and Julian (3 year old adult). They are in the early stages of learning the ropes here at WCFP and will be joining the sheep when they are trained.
